By converting your seed phrase to cipher it is rendered unintelligible to any would-be thief. Lock your unconverted words away somewhere highly secure, but keep your cipher close to hand.

Converts 12 or 24 words.
An algorithm acts on your password and seed phrase to create a cipher output. This output is then embedded into a QR Code while the seed phrase is immediately discarded. It happens within the app, within Apples sandboxing. Nothing touches the net.
There is an option to use a temporary device name in conjunction with your password for greatly increased security. If used, restoring a seed phrase with Seedcipher then requires not only the correct password, but also a correctly named device. Without a correctly named device it will not restore, even if the correct password is used.
